A DC 16 Wisdom (Perception) check also reveals a small, horizontal slot runs the width of the alcove on the top.
When the statue is removed, the pedestal rises, causing the spring loaded razor knife to quickly drop and retract. Any creature who is reaching in to take the statue must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, or take 3d6 slashing damage.
The trap can be disabled a few ways.
A DC 18 Intelligence (Investigation) check is required to estimate how much the statue weighs. Then a DC 16 Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check is required to successfully replace the statue with another object. Both checks must succeed to prevent setting off the trap.
A DC 18 Dexterity check is required to disable the pedestal. In order to do this, something small and sturdy, like a metal nail must be used to wedge the pedestal.
A DC 16 Dexterity check with thieves’ tools is required to disable the spring loaded razor knife. Alternatively, a DC 16 Intelligence (Investigation) check can be used to block the opening.
